KIT-ACCESSIBILITY LAB

Aids for people with visual impairment are expensive and require long development times. Many new developments from research could already make the everyday life of people with disabilities noticeably easier today. By establishing a KIT Accessibility Lab, the approach of systematically combining research, teaching, and service at KIT is to be consistently developed further: As a model environment, the KIT Accessibility Lab is a multidisciplinary infrastructure for the development and transfer of innovative accessibility concepts for people with visual impairments. In 2014, the KIT Foundation received a generous donation by the entrepreneur Stefan Quandt for the establishment of an Accessibility Lab. The Accessibility Lab will be installed as part of the Study Center for Visually Impaired Students (SZS) in addition to the services for students with visual impairment. The SZS will assume the role of moderation and evaluation and bring together the different groups.
