Foundation for Talented Students in Computer Science in Karlsruhe
The purpose of the foundation under civil law, which was established in 2007, is the promotion of science and research, education, adult education and vocational training as well as student assistance. The Foundation for Gifted Students of Informatics Karlsruhe supports exceptionally gifted students of the KIT Faculty of Informatics and research projects. Among other things, it sponsors an annual Deutschlandstipendium.
In July 2016, the KIT Foundation took over the administration of the Foundation for Talented Students in Computer Science in Karlsruhe.

Helga and Wolfgang Gaul Foundation
The married couple Helga and Professor Dr. Wolfgang Gaul would like to make a contribution to the promotion of science and research as well as to the support of persons in need of care. For this reason they established the Helga and Wolfgang Gaul Foundation in 2001. The purpose of the foundation is the promotion of science and research, especially in the fields of computer science, mathematics and economics, the support of persons in need as well as charitable purposes in the sense of § 53 AO.

Erika and Dr. Wolfgang Eichelberger Foundation
The purpose of the foundation, founded in 2012 by the couple Erika and Dr. Wolfgang Eichelberger, is to promote science and research. The purpose of the foundation is realized by awarding prizes and scholarships to students and young scientists of the faculties of physics and computer science at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
Since 2017, the "Erika and Dr. Wolfgang Eichelberger Foundation" is administered in trust by the KIT Foundation. For further information, please contact the office of the foundations.

Mr. Dr. Wolfgang Eichelberger

In 2012, Dr. Wolfgang Eichelberger, Honorary Senator of KIT, founded the "Erika and Dr. Wolfgang Eichelberger Foundation" at KIT together with his wife Erika Eichelberger, who died in 2013. The Eichelberger couple were particularly concerned about the promotion of young scientists, especially the KIT faculties of computer science and physics.
Wolfgang Eichelberger completed his studies of physics at the Universität Karlsruhe (TH), followed by his doctorate, which he also completed in Karlsruhe in 1969. Eichelberger, who was employed at BASF in Ludwigshafen from 1970 to 1996, initiated various developments during his many years of work in data processing and scientific computer science, such as a benchmark system for measuring and evaluating computing power or a dialog software on a time-sharing basis as well as the configuration and establishment of the BASF research network.
As an alumnus of KIT, Dr. Eichelberger was committed to his alma mater in an extraordinary and outstanding way until the end.
The KIT Foundation will continue his legacy in the spirit of the founder - in grateful remembrance.

Vice President Prof. Thomas Hirth presents Dr. Wolfgang Eichelberger with the honorary senatorship for his services to the KIT.
The founder Dr. Wolfgang Eichelberger is the new honorary senator of the KIT. Vice President Thomas Hirth presented the award presented by the KIT Senate to the founding donor of the "Erika and Dr. Wolfgang Eichelberger Foundation", thus acknowledging his great merits. "By establishing the foundation in 2012, Mr. and Mrs. Eichelberger have laid the foundation stone for awarding scholarships and prizes to students and young scientists of the KIT faculties of physics and computer science. The outstanding and extraordinary commitment to the KIT, which has existed for many years, is to be adequately honored," says Vice President Hirth.
